Buyers Guide

The most important thing to consider when buying accessories is the use that you will make of the bike. There is no point in purchasing a lock with a high security rating if it is going to sit in your shed unused!! To that end below are some of our most popular items with some important considerations that you should take in mind when purchasing them

Lights Advice

If you are commuting then it is not necessary to purchase a set of lights with the most power you can find. What is of primary importance is visibility, we have a number of cheap lights available that are LED based which ensure maximum visibility whilst offering surprisingly long battery life.

5 Things to Consider:
  • Do you ride where there is no street lighting?
  • Are you going to have to take the lights with you when you park your bike?
  • Where on my bike or myself can you mount the lights?
  • Do you want them to be rechargeable?
  • Are you going to use them on more than one bike, how easy is it to get spare brackets?

    Lock Advice

The basic rule with locks is that the best option is t take a D-Lock and use it with cables threaded through your wheels to ensure the best security. The most effective advice we can give is to consider your insurance, many home contents insurance will cover bicycles but they will have certain parameters such as a minimum security level, cycle specific insurance is also available, once again this will have parameters that must be adhered to.

    5 Things to Consider:
  • Check your Insurance details to see if a security level is required
  • Are you going to have to carry it around with you (they can be really heavy)?
  • Can your wheels easily be removed from the bike, if so do you need to buy cables?
  • Are you going to mount the lock on your bike to take with you? Check it comes with a bracket.
  • Do you need a spare key?

  • What size tools, ie 5mm allen key, are most useful for your bike?

There are also a number of gas cartridge based systems available for when time is a factor. If using cartridges then its advisable to take a spare with you.

    5 Things to Consider:
  • How quickly do you want to pump your tyres up?
  • How small do you need a pump to be?
  • Is it worth you buying a co2 pump for speed?

  • Are you going to have to use the same pump for different valve types?
