Lock Advice
The basic rule with locks is that the best option is t take a D-Lock and use it with cables threaded through your wheels to ensure the best security. The most effective advice we can give is to consider your insurance, many home contents insurance will cover bicycles but they will have certain parameters such as a minimum security level, cycle specific insurance is also available, once again this will have parameters that must be adhered to.

Helmet Advice
All the helmets we offer are manufactured to a European standard safety level, as such we advise you to consider the fit of them, make sure you are buying the right size. Details such as weight and ventilation will have an effect on the comfort of the helmet but size is paramount.

Shorts Advice
A good pair of cycling shorts will be the difference between a comfortable experience or one that will leave you cold to the whole experience!! There are a number of different padding options that will be available to you but our advice is this; cycling shorts are more important to your comfort than your particular saddle, this is where your money should go.

Base Layers Advice
The purpose of a good base layer is to wick moisture away from your skin, this will help to regulate your temperature, they are particularly effective in the fight against the cold. Compression items will also help your muscles to stay working at their peak. Please note that they must be washed frequently, moisture = sweat!!

Your biggest enemy in keeping warm is the wind, the vast majority of Winter cycling gear will be windproof and water resistant, you will be amazed at the difference a gilet can make in keeping you comfortable

Waterproofs Advice
When it rains it rains, and you have no other option than to bring out the wet weather gear, there a number of high quality products available that are breathable, but if these are not in your budget then a vented jacket will go a long way to preventing you from being too hot.

Hydration Advice
The most popular option here is a water bottle and cage to mount onto your bike. However there are hydration packs available should you be going for a long ride or simply not have the option of mounting anything to your frame.

Tools Advice
A multi-tool can be essential if you have mechanical problems whilst out and about, at least a spare inner tube or pucture repair kit are something no cyclist should be without. At home you can set yourself up with a good toolkit at a surprisingly low cost, but a workstand is where you should start.

Pumps Advice
Mini-pumps can be frame mounted or attached to a seatpack, for the garage a track-pump will save you a lot of effort when it comes to inflating your tyres from flat. There are also a number of gas cartridge based systems available for when time is a factor. If using cartridges then its advisable to take a spare with you.
